Make Space for Nature School Grounds Project
Following our successful project last year, we are pleased to launch the second round of applications for the
Make Space For Nature School Grounds Project.
This 2-year project aims to support schools and pupils develop their school grounds for wildlife while bringing environmental education to life for the pupils and teachers. It is a free programme, funded by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency.
What will the school get from this project?
- 40 outreach sessions between September 2009 and March 2011
- Improvements for biodiversity in the school grounds
- Educational resources linked to the revised curriculum
- Training for teachers
- Support and advice work towards awards such as Ecoschools, ECOUNESCO awards and Wildlife Watch Awards
In return for these great benefits you will be expected to -
- Commit to the project from September 2009 to March 2011
- Help maintain school ground improvements
- Provide adequate teachers/support staff to assist with the supervision of pupils and assume overall responsibility for discipline and good behaviour during the sessions
- With support, carry on the project aims throughout the school and beyond March 2011, including the establishment of an eco-club/committee
- Enjoy the project!
