A beautiful island in Upper Lough Erne, preserved as a link to the primeval forest which once covered our shores. Contains a mosaic of mature parkland, oak woodland, and botanically rich grassland and is possible to find NI priority species such as mistle thrush and otter. The island is grazed by feral goats. There are annual visits by UWT staff for site monitoring/biological recording purposes.
Access: Permission for access required from UWT. There are no visitor facilities on the island.
Getting There: Take the A509 south out Enniskillen for 10 miles, then turn left and take the minor road to Knockninney, where there is a jetty. A boat is required to reach the island.
Look out for: mistle thrush, otter, oak woodland and silver-washed fritillary
