A tranquil piece of the countryside situated two miles south of Belfast city centre within Lagan Valley Regional Park. Lagan Meadows is a mosaic of wildflower rich meadow, scrub, ponds, hedgerows and wet woodland bordering the River Lagan. Historically significant as the source of Belfast’s first water supply, its value now is for wildlife and the local community.
Access: On-street parking, maps and information, including a nature trail (1.6km), available at Knightsbridge Park entrance (surfaced paths but steep slopes). Disabled parking available at Sharman Road entrance with accessible routes onto Lagan towpath and to Lester’s Dam.
Getting There: Access is either via Bladon Drive (off the Malone Road) or Knightsbridge Park (off Stranmillis Road).
